I hope this post finds you well. As spring break comes to an end and we try to "flatten the curve" of the pandemic - Covid19 - there are a few resources that may help you navigate this unprecedented situation. The first is the self assessment tool - if you show symptoms of Covid19 or someone you know does, please refer to this self-assessment tool - https://bc.thrive.health/ - and call 811 for additional support. For any information regarding the City of Burnaby please refer to - https://www.burnaby.ca/City-Services/Public-Safety/Novel-Coronavirus--COVID-19-.html Stay safe out there, and remember the most effective ways of supporting yourself, and those around you are to: The most effective way to protect yourself and your family is to follow a few simple recommendations from public health officials:
Before spring break, our robotics team - the Byrne Creek Voyagers - traveled to Victoria to compete in the First Robotics competition, and it was a huge success! Our team was able to bring 16 Byrne Creek students and placed 30th out of 42 teams. A huge accomplishment when one considers that they were competing against teams from Alberta, California, Idaho, Detroit, Hawaii, and New Zealand. So the trip to Victoria was a huge success! We brought 16 students which is 11 more than we brought last year. Sponsor teacher, Steve Cook said "All in all it was fantastic, we did better than last year, students learned how to deal with stress or how to not deal with stress, everyone contributed to the team, friendships were made with teens from around the world, and students had a great time." Congratulations to the Byrne Creek Voyagers on competing in their second First Robotics contest - the Community Room is always happy to support you! Keep representing our community to the fullest! |
